Making foolproof lanterns – instructions and inspiring examples
Paper lanterns are even made by toddlers in kindergarten
So you can make a simple lantern. You can of course also carry out the project with your child.
Obtain the following materials:
- Toilet paper rolls
- Colored paper, contrasting colors and patterns
- Glue dots / glue stick
- Scissors / Children Scissors
♦ Tip: If you are realizing the project with your child, be careful when they use the scissors. Better take children's scissors.
How to make foolproof lanterns – Instructions
Everything you need
Wrap the toilet paper roll nicely around in colored paper and glue them together well. You can use glue dots or, as usual, a glue stick.
Step 3 – Use 6 double-sided adhesive dots
Then cut paper for the outer layer of your lantern. This piece should be slightly longer than the toilet paper roll itself.
Fold the piece of paper along the middle and cut slits as shown in the picture below.
The next step is to attach the outer paper to the toilet paper roll with the tacker so that the slots open easily.
Finally, the lantern handle is made from tape as long or short as you like.
A similar paper lantern can also be realized without a toilet paper roll. Do as in step 5 and cut a round lantern base out of paper, which you then glue to the lantern. You can also place a tea light in this paper lantern.
